Mike Cloutier is an accomplished business leader and consultant with over 27 years in the Life Sciences sectors. With a strong track record of accomplishments and through his thoughtful approach to leadership at all levels of the organization, Mike has established an extensive network of colleagues and clients.
Over the past 10 years, Mike was president and CEO of three major pharmaceutical firms and is known as a powerful leader among the healthcare community; federal, provincial and municipal political circles throughout Canada; and in the non-profit sector. The most recent of these CEO positions was leading AstraZeneca Canada, the second-largest pharmaceutical company in Canada with revenues in excess of $1 billion and over 1500 employees. Following this, Mike took on the role of CEO at Critical Outcome Technologies Inc. (COTI) in London, Ontario — a biotech company focused on pre-clinical product discovery, primarily in the areas of multiple sclerosis, oncology and HIV/AIDS.
Internationally, Mike held positions in Latin America and Europe, most recently serving as the Vice-President Human Resources, Global Marketing for AstraZeneca Inc. He was responsible for leading a team to re-shape the worldwide human resources strategy and to develop a revitalized mandate for their global marketing organization.
Until 2013, Mike was the CEO of the Canadian Diabetes Association.
Mike is a dedicated philanthropist and currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning and also for the Canadian Stroke Network. He is the Vice-Chair of the Board of the Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation. He is the past Fundraising Chair of the Hazel McCallion Academic Learning Centre at the University of Toronto Mississauga and has held a number of board positions in other Life Science organizations including National Centres of Excellence, Hospitals and Community Nursing Associations.
Among his many accomplishments, Mike was inducted to the Sheridan College School of Business Marketing Hall of Fame and the Canadian Pharmaceutical Marketing Hall of Fame.
